Some comments regarding the last name: The Jews pronounced Adonai (Lord) instead of YHWH (Yahweh). However, they pronounced Adonai YHWH as Adonai Elohim in order to avoid saying Adonai two times. In the cases when one word should be pronounced instead of another word, Masorets (Hebrew scholars who added special symbols for vowels to the Old Testament text) did not change the consonants of the original word, but added vowels of the word that should be pronounced instead. In Hebrew Masoretic punctuation, YHWH is spelled as Yehovah in order to indicate that this word should be pronounced as Adonai (the first vowel "a" of Adonai is substituted by "e" because "a" in Adonai indicates very short "a" that cannot be pronounced after "y" and should be substituted by very short "e"). However, Adonai YHWH is spelled as Adonay Yehowih in order to indicate that in this construction YHWH should be pronounced as Elohim.

God's names in the New Testament:
1. Theos - God (John 1:1)
2. Kurios - Lord (Ephesians 4:5)
3. Despotes - the Sovereign One (Acts 4:24; Revelation 6:10)
4. Pater - Father (Matthew 6:9; Romans 8:15)
5. Ego Eimi - I AM (John 8:58)
